Positive and Negative Experience Related to Sport
March 30, 2012
People engaging in sports can earn a living from these sporting activities and this can be viewed as a source of honest income instead of engaging in deviant activities such as drug abuse or violence. On the other hand, one of the negative experiences related to sport is that sport encompasses some aspect of gender bias. This is because sports are based on values and experiences of men (in contrast to women) with influence and power. An example of this form of gender bias can be seen in the way there are more men than women engaging in sports because it generally emphasizes male masculinity. Another example is the use of (nearly) naked women in the media coverage of sports, which tends to objectify women. These experiences occur because, like in the positive experiences re...

ESL Students in the US
January 17, 2012
The population of ESL students is growing in the United States especially in the American Public school systems, and as a result, the communities and schools involved are directly affected. The population in the early part of the past decade between 2003 and 2004 was about 10 percent. Therefore, about one in ten students were non-native English speakers, which is short for ESL. The figure has increased in the recent years. In 2001, the combined population for Asian or Pacific Islanders and Hispanics was a little over 6 percent. Five years later the figure is 15.5 percent. Of course, the Hispanic and Islander population is not partial to the English language being that it is not their native tongue. That means an obvious increase in ESL stu...

There is no hope for doing perfect research
December 14, 2011
Research falls into two broad categories. They are; basic or pure research and scientific, also known as empirical research. For basic research, it is less inclined toward solving problems, but is rather extensive in nature. It attempts to satisfy a researcher’s curiosity as it provides answers to questions such as how things function, why things are the way they are. For instance, a researcher may conduct a research to try and explain why animals behave differently from humans. In essence, there is a continuous generation of new knowledge, so the age of knowledge used is relevant and affects the quality of research conclusion. In doing research, one comes in contact with a lot of information, and their ability to choose the most credible and valid ...

A close friend of mine walks up to me finds me glued to my PC trying to explore the possible ways improving my writing skills. The first thing he asks is why I am so into writing. From the way he reacts after answering him, I realize he had not expected such an answer from me. To him, he views this type of writing as money-driven and without passion. On the contrary, I like to think that writing has enabled me explore more than I could have done had I narrowed my knowledge within my profession.. Writing academic papers not only gives me the good feeling of having satisfied a customer, but it instills many ideas in me and broadens my reasoning and way of passing ideas. Through writing, I do a lot of research and in the process, I get to know many things t...
