US Consumer's Purchasing Power Increases

Last week, the Guardian reported that consumers in the United States had earned and spent more in the month of February in comparison to the previous five months. It attributed the rise in income of the Americans to payment of bonuses and dividends in December of 2012. In addition to this, the job market has become stronger and most jobs are attracting better pay in comparison to the previous year. This is an indication the United States economy is finally getting out of the woods. Economists predict that the economy is growing at an average of 2.5 percent which dwarfs the 0.4% growth experienced in October-December quarter. This indicates that consumers are likely to earn more in the coming months. Hopefully, this will spiral and lead to a full recovery of the economy.
