If the ongoing primaries are anything to go by, then foreign policy still remains a critical issue in the American society. Its foreign pollicy ranges from security, economic and social concerns. The most contested policies at the moment are how the next US president will relate with Iran nuclear threat, China's economy, the Euro zone crisis, Russia's threat and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Key issues are: should the US continue with its sactions on Iran? Should it confront the Chinese over their currency that continues to give them an edge over other economies? Should they continue to fight the Taliban or should they negotiate over Afghanistan? How should the US react to the Euro zone crisis? Although the world economy seems to have overcome the worst of the 2008 economic recession. Not all countries have entirely recovered. The most affected of these countries are Greece, Portugal and the United States among others. Greece and Portugal have pushed the Euro Zone back to the debt crisis. The crisis has affected the value of European companies' stocks all over the world with the prices of their stocks dipping to their lowest since 2004. The Euro Zone has undertaken several initiatives to deal with the crisis. For instance, the countries i the zone have started a rescue fund.
