Research proposal is a tool that assists a student or a researcher in designing and planning a research project to be undertaken. It provides in detail the design to be applied in carrying out the research and further highlights the aims and research questions. It comprises of the underneath elements,        I.            Introduction: - these parts state the main research question or subject to be studied. Its approximately 25 words.     II.            Overview:- it entails ·         The aims and objectives of the research. ·         Expands on further defines the research question. ·         Literature review. ·         Research design to be applied/theoretically framework. ·         Research methods. ·         Method of analysis. It should be approximately 100-150 words per heading  III.            Relevance/significance of the research: - it focuses the significance in theoretically knowledge, professional’s knowledge and in personal learning. Each heading should be briefly elaborated (= 100 words for each heading).  IV.            Any product of the research/approximately 25 words.     V.            Ethical issues: - the research should not infringe or violate the ethics of the society or subject. This part should outline the expected risks to all parties involved and recommends ways of handling the risks. It is approximately 250 words.  VI.            Works plan/planned activities: - this is a schedule of how the project will be implemented /carried out (100-150 words). Generally a research proposal should provide a guideline for the actual research and fosters easy and precise evaluation. It is approximately 1800-2000 words. Individual academic and professional background plays a very important role in determining ones suitability for post graduate or any other level of study. Research proposal is a major determinant in finding supervisors provides a basis for accepting ones application for a post graduate study. The research proposal defines the topic or subject to be studied. It serves as preliminary indicator of ones area of interest. Atypical research proposal is between 1 and 2 thousands words. The format for a good proposal depends on the fields or academic disciplines however; students are advised to consider some guidelines. The research proposal is not only judged on content.
