Spiritual World
According to the Ancient Chinese, there are three kinds of spiritual beings. These spiritual beings are gods, ghosts, and ancestors. The ancient Chinese had a lot of respect to the ancestors. This was evident due to the seasonal and daily rituals they conducted for pleasing their ancestors. However, the ghosts were considered to be dangerous and they did all they could to avoid them. They perceived them as the cause of sickness and problems. During the death of person either in an accident or not married at the time of the death, they conducted rituals aimed to appeasing them in order to avoid them from bringing problems to the living beings.
According to the Maya communities, they regarded to their spirits as taking a form of a very attractive woman. They also believed of the existence of a deadly spirit of the night. The Maya communities had ancient clothing and attires that were meant to mimic the human spirits. This was a way of reflecting the dark or light in order to communicate in way to bring loving and protection and joy to the human beings. The nature of the Mayan spiritual realm depended on the human’s inner-self and respect. They could also build mini-hurts in order to conduct offerings for showing gratitude to the spirits for protecting them. Maya community refered to the spirits as “guardian Maya angle” for guarding them during their ventures in the forest and at night.
Conclusively, it is evident that both of these ancient communities believed in the existence of spirits though in different forms. What is also common in the communities is the respect that they upheld for the spirits. It is also indicated that they also regarded to some spirits as dangerous to the human beings. The other similarity is the way the both of these communities conducted offering events for their spirits.
