Russia: Structural Impact of the World/International System
The paper seeks to determine the nature of the current international system in Russia and position of power the system. The paper also explores the state of the country whether it is independent or dependent with the influence of the state to the functionality. Through this paper, the assessment of the military aspect of the country is well depicted with the power and position. The paper also focuses on evaluating the ranks of the GDP, per capita income and the entire share in the world. Lastly, the paper seeks to elaborate the impact of the system on the foreign policy orientation of the country.
There have been numerous debates about Multi-polarity in Russia. The prime minister in Russia made the efforts of developing a foreign policy paradigm, which was based on leading the country to a multipolar alliance. This was to be accomplished with the help of a group of thinkers and policy makers led by Evgeny Primakov. This multipolar alliance was aimed at combating the unipolar world that was being developed by the United States. The relationship between Russia and Europe is also another explanation of the Russian vision of multipolarity. The current policymakers in Russia strive not to expunge the US from the establishment of the multipolar club. This is in order to ensure that there is revolutionized way of establishing multipolarity in the entire globe.
Russia has a modernized military due to the prominent role of the Soviet Union in World War II. The country’s arms race with the US and it has a chief designer since 1960. Russia has managed to have a consequent acquisition of human and material resources compelled it to arms industry. The country has not lately experienced any threat or attack form the US. However, it has become the world’s primary dealer leading to the building of militarized powers. This powers pose a potential rivals to the US. This makes Russia to have the authority of determining the things that each of those militarized powers get. Therefore, it is evident that Russia has a form of control over the other countries that they are involved in the trade of arms.
The country is accounting for a growth in the world GDP share. The country have managed to reach the position aspired for a long time ago. This growth has been facilitated by the emerging markets in Asia. This has also led to redistribution of power, globalization. There have been expansively in Russian on the economic and political influence globally. However, this has happened without anti-American alliance being formed between them. Russia has managed to enter its tenth straight year of economic growth. This is due to the premium oil prices and the increased consumer demand with Russia. This has led to renewal of the political confidence following the booming economy.
The system has led to the foreign policy being divided into to two unequal parts. One section breaks-up from the Soviet Union. It was characterized by the aspiration to integrate into the existing institutions whereby receiving a worthy place at the decision-making. The other part began with Putin’s Munich speech, which led to Russia enhancing her capabilities and increasing the strength.
