After reading the Ken Kissey's novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, I noticed a lot of themes that would make for a great paper.  Although the patients are seen as deviant in the eyes of society, they are subjected to abuses by the staff.  Nurses and doctors are normally seen as good people but in this case, Nurse Ratched represents a woman who wishes to suppress the men by emasculating them.  The novel is also unique because the insane asylum can be seen as a matriarchy, which is an odd occurrence in most novels.  Not only did I read the novel but I've also watched the film, so I can make comparisons on each for any of your essay needs.
