There is a never-ending argument about the similarities/ differences between these two concepts. It is interesting that with closer scrutiny, these concepts mean the same thing, but at different levels of perception. Belief is basically what a person thinks to be true, with or without evidence. For instance, the general assumption that all people have brains was once a belief. After several heads had been opened up, there was proof and this became knowledge. It remains knowledge until one day a head is opened up and there are no brains in it. The other important difference between belief and truth is that the former has a personal notion to it while the latter is universal.
Truth represents scientific knowledge and facts, while belief represents fads and fallacies among other similar concepts.
